Spoiler alert: If you’ve ever dreamed of running away to a tropical island and getting married barefoot at sunset… Marc and Kaya actually did that. Their elopement in Oahu was everything a love story should be—deeply meaningful, wildly scenic, and full of little moments that felt like something out of a romance novel. And honestly? 12/10.
Golden light. Gentle waves. Rolling green mountains in the distance. Papailoa Beach pretty much said, “I got you,” and delivered a backdrop that was pure magic.
With the ocean shimmering behind them, Marc and Kaya stood with their officiant—just the three of them and the beauty of the island.
They chose a traditional Hawaiian ceremony, led by a Kahu Kawena Mechler, which added so much depth and meaning to the moment.
Okay, this part? Actual goosebumps.
Kaya, with sunlight in her hair and a flower crown framing her face, read her vows from a little book she held in shaking hands.
Her voice was steady but soft, filled with love and quiet emotion.
And Marc—smiling like he’d just been handed the universe—returned her words with his own promises, equally full of heart.
The ceremony? Utterly heart-melting. Just the two of them, the ocean humming in the background, and the kind of golden light that makes everything look like a movie. And then—Marc kissed his bride. Not just a quick, polite kiss. No, this was the real deal. The kind of kiss that says I choose you, always.
For Kaya, Hawaii isn’t a vacation spot—it’s where her heart lives. Born and raised on Oahu, she’s always felt connected to the land, the culture, and the calm rhythm of island life.
So when it came to choosing a wedding location, it wasn’t even a question.
An Oahu elopement was the most heartfelt way to begin their marriage—one that honored her roots and felt genuinely them.
After sealing the deal (and sharing the kiss), these two walked down the beach barefoot, hand in hand like the ending of the best kind of movie.
Kaya’s bouquet added a pop of tropical color, and the joy on her face said everything: This was right.
This was home.
Let’s rewind a bit—because these two didn’t just fall in love. They adventured into it.
Marc proposed to Kaya beside a waterfall in Iceland (we know, we’re swooning too), and then they spent the rest of the trip in a camper van exploring the island.
So, yeah… they do romance and road trips.
After the ceremony, they walked down the beach like they were made for that moment—Kaya glowing, Marc completely wrapped up in her. The way they laughed, leaned into each other, and moved in sync? You could just feel the ease between them. Total soulmates.
And then—Marc dipped her. Right there in the sand, with the sunset lighting up the sky behind them. Kaya laughed, head tilted back, and he looked at her like she was everything. It was romantic, a little cinematic, and so them.
