The afternoon was flooded with sunshine and crisp air during Lauryn and Michael’s Oahu Wedding on the shore of Kualoa’s Secret Island. Our couple took the first steps to marriage surrounded by loving friends and family and the lush greenery of the island.

Oahu Wedding

The Oahu Wedding

Lauryn and Michael’s Oahu wedding was pure elegance and simplicity. With smiles all around, Lauryn’s parents walked her down the sandy aisle as Michael waited patiently.

Oahu Wedding

Officiating the ceremony was the bride’s own uncle, and he knew exactly what to say to make her laugh on her special day. How cute is her smile?!

Both Lauryn and Michael are employed by the Army; she’s a civil engineer and he works at Tripler. Because Lauryn has been so busy at work, Michael took it upon himself to arrange the wedding details. He took the reins, and Lauryn was able to relax and await the big day. What a special wedding gift!

Following the big “I do,” our team at Karma Hill Photography whisked our couple away for romantic and fun photos with the gorgeous scenery of Secret Island in the backdrop. From gentle valleys to aqua oceans and rustic greenery, there was no shortage of beautiful locales to frame our couple against. And they were so adventurous and along for the ride! We had a great time sharing laughs and enjoying Lauryn and Michael’s special moment with them.

The Farewell

At last, we set sail over the ancient fish pond to return our couple safely to society, and our team snapped some final shots of Lauryn and Michael in front of the sailboat. It was the perfect end to a gorgeous and relaxed ceremony. It was a joy to send off our new husband and wife and such a rewarding journey to turn their dream wedding into reality.

Faith and Andrew’s Oahu Venue Wedding took place on the private shore of Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island. It was a beautiful occasion with dreamy skies and the gorgeous backdrop of China Man’s hat on the glistening ocean. Faith and Andrew were excited to say, “I do” on the same island that they were engaged on!

Oahu Venue Wedding

Oahu Venue Wedding

The Secret Island of Kualoa Ranch is the perfect venue for a private wedding along the beachside. In order to arrive at the ceremony, our couple and their guests sailed over an ancient Hawaiian fish pond on a private charter. Wearing an elegant gown with butterfly sleeves and a vibrant flower crown, Faith looked beautiful as she walked arm in arm with her father down the aisle. The sweet smiles were everything!

Our Couple’s Story

Faith works for the school district in Lodi, CA, and runs her own little Etsy shop. Andrew is a delivery truck driver for JB Hunt. They’ve been together for over six years and love going to the beach! But of course, they do! Just look at how natural they look on the sandy shore!

Andrew first noticed Faith in their freshman year of high school. The crush was almost immediate, but it took him until their junior year to “make a move” and get to know her. Turns out, he had all the right moves and Faith felt the attraction too! In 2019, they vacationed to Oahu and during a romantic walk on the beach, Andrew popped the big question. The rest of their story is right here on our blog!

Brooke and Jamie’s Oahu Micro Wedding on the shore of Secret Island was like a private oasis. It was pure bliss. Together for over half a decade, Brooke and Jamie love to travel and felt a destination wedding was the perfect way to meld their passions with their “I do’s.”

Oahu Micro Wedding

The Oahu Micro Wedding

With Jamie’s teenage children serving as Maid of Honor and Best Man, and in front of a simple yet elegant arch that framed the glistening ocean, this was a ceremony filled with love and beauty. Looking gorgeous in a gown with intricate beading and a flared princess-cut, Brooke is dazzling. We love how Jamie’s cream suit ties in with the mellow tones of the beachside. As spectacular as they looked, it was clear that they felt even better! Those smiles say it all.

Our Couple’s Story

Brooke works as an accountant for a real estate developer, and Jamie works in finance for an academic medical institution. They’re a blended family of four, and Brooke and Jamie love to travel, watch football, and attempt to work out.

High school brought Brooke and Jamie together, but it turned out to just be the first stepping-stone of fate and not the moment that started the romance. It took over a decade, and lots of growth and experiences in between for fate to pair them up once more. They rekindled their connection in their early thirties. And the magic was instant! After six years of dating, they were engaged at a fancy restaurant and the rest is history!

It was a gorgeous day for Chastine and Jonathan’s Oahu Destination Wedding on the shore of the Secret Island of Kualoa Ranch. With a stunning circular arch decorated with tropical blooms, Oahu’s famous islet in the backdrop, and a soft, white sandy shore all to themselves, it was a day bursting with love, happiness, and beauty.

Oahu Destination Wedding

The Oahu Destination Wedding

Dressed to the nines, Jonathan watched the procession and waited patiently for his bride. Aria acted as the cutest little flower girl, laying a perfect river of flowers along the sand just moments before her mom made her grand debut. Wearing a princess-cut gown with delicate lace details and a show-stealing smile, Chastine is simply beautiful. When the big moment came, and Chastine and Jonathan were joined in marriage, the crowd erupted in cheers and celebration. The joy was tangible!

Oahu Destination Wedding: Our Bride Tells Their Story

When asked how they met, Chastine shared the story: “We met on Match.com. I had been single for 3+ years… I think Jon had been single for that amount of time too.  We had both come out of really difficult previous relationships. I was convinced I was done with relationships… Forever. 😂”

“After my last deployment one of my friends was doing my hair, and she told me to give online dating a try.  I was pretty hesitant but fast forward a couple of years later I felt like I should give it a try because all I did was work and spend time with the kids–chances of me meeting someone in person were pretty slim. I was about to give up on online dating when I saw Jon’s profile. He looked like a genuinely nice person so I messaged him.”

Our Bride Tells Their Story

“I had already deleted all my info and pictures from my Match.com profile so I didn’t even think he would respond. He did and I had to give him my social media info to “prove” I was real.  A couple of days after we started chatting I was going on vacation with my kids to meet up with my family at Disney World and spend time with them in Washington state.”

Oahu Destination Wedding

“We were gone for about a month. I was convinced Jon wouldn’t “wait” for me to come back before we could go on a real date but he did. We both love Korean BBQ so that was our first date! We just clicked. He’s such a wonderful person.  The fact that my kids warmed up to him right away was a great sign too.  My son hardly opens up to people and he cuddled up with him right away. 🥰”

Sometimes a couple comes along whose energy and smiles are so contagious it reminds us why we love to be in the Hawaii wedding industry. Ariel and Monday are one of those couples, and we were honored to be able to coordinate their simple and sweet wedding in Oahu.

Wedding in Oahu

The Wedding in Oahu

For the special occasion, we booked the secluded and private venue of Kualoa Ranch. Accessible only by boat, Ariel and Monday took the romantic cruise over an ancient Hawaiian fishpond to arrive at the sandy beachfront ceremony. The day was blessed with mountain mists and the smiles and cheers of loved ones. The best smile of all? It’s a tie between Ariel and Monday! Their joyful expressions had us grinning along with them! How sweet are these two?! It was so clear that they were thrilled to be tying their lives together.

Wearing boho-inspired beach dresses with casual shawls, Ariel and Monday look simply beautiful and adorable on the sand. We’re lovin’ their mirrored hairstyles and matching flower crowns and Rustic Hawaiian Bouquets! Reverend Lawrence officiated the ceremony as loved ones watched on. If you’re planning a wedding on Oahu, there’s no venue more intimate or more secluded than Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island. Tucked away in the sacred valleys and bordered by a white sand beach, this Oahu wedding location is family owned and operated, which means consistent quality and a true Aloha experience. All of our Oahu wedding venues offer unique beauty and charm, but a Kualoa Ranch Wedding is unparalleled in its ability to create a once in a lifetime experience enveloped in the authentic beauty of Old Hawaii.

Set away from the world of commercialism, Kualoa Ranch is a pristine nature reserve, and as such, booking a reception here requires a few unique steps. Follow along and we’ll guide you through the process of having your dream wedding on Oahu at this gorgeous location.

Kualoa Ranch Wedding Setups

Kualoa Ranch Wedding

Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island is one of the few privately owned beaches in Hawaii. This means the state’s beach wedding restrictions don’t apply, so there’s an abundance of flexibility, which means arches and seats are allowed on the sand. You can choose one of our gorgeous ceremony arches or simply go with the down-to-earth appeal of going arch-less.

Keep in mind at this Oahu wedding venue the direction of your ceremony is incredibly important when determining your wedding setup. With sweeping panoramic views, Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island offers unique and breathtaking backdrops. You can choose to have your ceremony face a tropical shoreline, the rustic lush valleys, or the glistening aqua ocean. If you prefer soft greenery beneath your feet, there’s even a grassy ceremony area that overlooks the oceanfront.

kualoa ranch secret island

Custom arches add stature and grace to any ceremony, and when these beauties are placed on the shore of Secret Island, you’ll have a beach wedding that perfectly incorporates the traditional elements of a venue. Because of the remote location and the time it takes for our vendors to travel to the island for set-up and break-down, arch pricing starts at around $1,200 and goes up from there depending on the selected florals.

wedding on oahu

Traveling to the Island

Because of the vast size of the reserve, the shore of Secret Island is only accessible via boat. You’ll sail over an ancient Hawaiian fish pond and soak in the beauty as you approach the lush green valleys. This stretch of water is calm and tranquil like a lake — so it should be gentle on even the most sensitive of stomachs! When you arrive, you’ll follow a short trail through a forest to find your ceremony location: a pristine sandy shore with the breathtaking ocean in the backdrop.

You have the option to accommodate your party with separate boat rides, and we’ll help you coordinate the order of who reaches the island first. You may want to take the voyage with your entire crew, or have them sail first and reserve the second trip for just the two of you, or have the bride journey last and keep her bridal look a secret until the very last moment.

To give you an idea of how things are usually arranged, here’s an example of the timing during a Kualoa Ranch wedding on Oahu:

  • 2:30 pm Coordinator, rental company, and florist take the boat over to set up the chairs and arch
  • 3:30 PM- Guest arrive at the fish pond and take 1st boat to Secret Island (the groom may also choose to go at this time if a “first look” during the ceremony is preferred).
  • 3:45 PM -Couple (or the bride) arrives at the fish pond to take the boat to Secret Island
  • 4:00 PM- ceremony/photography begins (30 min)
  • 4:30 PM- group portraits (20 min)
  • 4:50 PM- couple’s photos on the beach (40 min)
  • 5:30 PM- photography ends and newlyweds are ready to leave the beach!!

Kualoa Ranch Payment Details

Kualoa Ranch prefers to collect the site fee directly from the clients, so once you book our Secret Island Package, we’ll put you in contact with the ranch and help you coordinate your payment.

This site fee is calculated directly into our Secret Island Wedding Package, which means the total cost will not increase. For example, as of June 2020, our Secret Island Wedding Package costs $5,695 and the site fee for the venue is $2,095 plus the 50 chairs at $5 each. After you’ve paid these charges directly to the venue, we will deduct it from your package cost and bring the remaining price down to $3,600.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind as you book:

  • There is a separate $1,000 damage deposit in addition to the site fee.
  • This is refundable as long as everything is in good shape after the wedding, but keep it in mind as you budget.
  • The fee is returned to you 14 days after the event.
  • You’ll be responsible for paying the site fee in time, but we’re here to help! We’ll remind you as the time gets closer, and it never hurts to set automatic reminders on your phone or calendar as well!

Kualoa Ranch Portraits

The options for family and group portraits at this venue are endless! One of the many perks of having a wedding on Oahu is the opportunity to capture unforgettable portraits with all of your closest loved ones. We work exclusively with the talented Karma Hill Photography team, so if you have any “dream shots” we’ll communicate with your photographer to turn those dreams into a reality. Family portraits on the boat, on the shore, in front of the valleys, on the dock — there’s no limit to the stunning backdrops!

kualoa ranch secret island

Of course, a wedding at Secret Island wouldn’t be complete without spectacular couples portraits! This venue is unparalleled in its beauty and is perfect for a couple who wants to surround themselves in a true tropical oasis.

wedding on oahu

Kualoa Ranch not only has glistening white sands, but this locale also has endless greenery and rustic natural backdrops to give your photos a touch of wild wonder. If you’re seeking a wedding on Oahu that captures both the forest and beach atmospheres of Hawaii, Secret Island can’t be beaten.

Other Considerations

Kualoa Ranch requires that the same coordinator that plans your ceremony also plans your reception.

However, because we only plan ceremonies, hosting a reception at this venue is not an option. But this works out great for couples looking for a reception that’s special yet simple — and affordable! Save some change and plan a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant after your ceremony with us. All the restaurants we refer to have a great staff that can help you arrange your reception details, and you can reserve a private or semi-private space with them. This way you don’t have to bring an entire restaurant to a separate location, and you don’t have to pay someone to plan it for you!

If you have any questions about this venue or any of the other services we offer, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’d love to hear from you as you plan your wedding on Oahu!

Kerameh & Dan’s Oahu venue wedding at the Secret Island of Kualoa Ranch had all the breezy charm of Hawaii rolled into an intimate and heartfelt ceremony. These two lovebirds got engaged on the Brooklyn Bridge as they watched the Fourth of July festivities. And just as it was on that special day, their Oahu wedding was bursting with fireworks (of the heart)!

It was just our couple and their guests on the exclusive shore of Secret Island. Fittingly named, this Oahu ceremony location is so remote that it can only be accessed by a private Hawaiian fishing boat. With the islet of Mokoliʻi (Chinaman’s Hat) on the horizon and glistening white sand beneath their feet, Kerameh & Dan’s Big Day was a once-in-a-lifetime affair to remember!

Simple, clean, and classic. It was just smiles and Hawaiian-style elegance for these two. We loved how the crisp lines of Kerameh’s bodice paired with the beach-worthy flow of her skirt. And adding a pop of tropical flair, her rustic Hawaiian bouquet and flower crown are lush and wild in all the right ways!
